Terms of use
These terms govern access to longhandpress.online and to any written material sold through it. Using the site indicates acceptance of them. Anyone who does not accept them should not use the site.
1. Who provides this service
The site and any material sold through it are provided by Longhand Press, an independent publishing operation based in Brazil, contactable only at support@longhandpress.online.
2. Eligibility
Access is limited to persons aged 18 or over who have the legal capacity to enter into a contract. Anyone under 18 should not use the site or purchase any material. Purchasing constitutes a representation that this requirement is met.
3. What is provided
Longhand Press publishes written material summarising published research. The articles on this site are provided for reading without charge. Where a paid publication is offered, its format, contents, and delivery method are described before purchase.
This is a publishing service and nothing else. It does not include consultation, assessment, coaching, correspondence advice, membership, community access, ongoing support, or any service directed at an individual situation.
4. No professional relationship
Nothing on this site or in any material sold through it constitutes therapy, counselling, psychological, medical, legal, or financial advice. Reading the material does not create a therapist–client, physician–patient, counsellor–client, or any other professional or fiduciary relationship between the reader and Longhand Press or any person associated with it.
The material describes research conducted on samples of participants. It does not assess, diagnose, treat, or offer an opinion on the circumstances of any individual, and is not a substitute for consulting a qualified professional. Anyone with a concern about their health or wellbeing should consult an appropriately qualified practitioner.
5. No claim about outcomes
Longhand Press makes no representation, express or implied, that reading any material will produce any particular result, change, improvement, or outcome. Research findings reported here describe average associations observed across samples under specific study conditions. They do not establish what will happen in any individual case, and are not presented as doing so.
No testimonial, review, case study, success story, or outcome account is collected, solicited, incentivised, or published by Longhand Press. Any such material encountered elsewhere did not originate here and is not endorsed.
6. Licence to use purchased material
Purchase grants a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and read the material for personal, non-commercial use. It does not transfer ownership or any intellectual property right.
Reproducing, distributing, publishing, reselling, sublicensing, sharing access credentials, uploading to any file-sharing or archival service, or creating derivative works is not permitted without prior written permission. Brief quotation with attribution, for review, criticism, teaching, or scholarship, is permitted.
7. Intellectual property
All text, layout, design, and code on this site are the property of Longhand Press or are used with permission, and are protected by Brazilian Law nº 9.610/1998 and applicable international copyright treaties. Third-party research findings are summarised and attributed under fair dealing and citation principles; the underlying works remain the property of their authors and publishers.
The name Longhand Press and the associated wordmark may not be used without written permission.
8. Availability
The site is provided on an "as available" basis. Longhand Press does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free access, and may modify, suspend, or withdraw any part of the site or any publication at any time. Where a purchased publication is withdrawn, buyers retain access to material already delivered, or receive a refund where access cannot be maintained.
9. Accuracy
Material is prepared with care and cites published sources. Research literature changes, papers are corrected and occasionally retracted, and errors occur. No warranty is given that all material is complete, current, or free from error. Corrections are made as described on the about page.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Longhand Press is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special loss arising from use of the site or of any material sold through it, including any decision taken on the basis of that material. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount paid for the material in question.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including under the Brazilian Consumer Protection Code (Lei nº 8.078/1990) or under mandatory consumer protection law applicable in the buyer's country of residence.
11. Payment and payment disputes
Payments are handled by a third-party payment provider. Prices are shown before purchase and include any applicable taxes where required. Charges may appear on a statement under the payment provider's descriptor rather than under the name Longhand Press; the support address will identify any unrecognised charge from the date and amount.
Where a charge is disputed, contacting support@longhandpress.online first is usually faster than raising a dispute with a card issuer, and a refund within the published window resolves the matter without either party's involvement in a chargeback process. Raising a chargeback is not prevented and does not waive any legal right. Where a chargeback is raised, access to the purchased material may be suspended pending resolution, and Longhand Press may provide the payment provider with transaction records, correspondence, and delivery evidence relevant to the dispute.
12. Refunds
Refund terms are set out on the refunds page and form part of these terms.
13. Acceptable use
The site may not be used to attempt unauthorised access, to interfere with its operation, to scrape it at a rate that degrades service, or for any unlawful purpose. Access may be restricted where these terms are breached.
14. Changes to these terms
These terms may be revised. The date at the top records the most recent revision. Continued use after a revision indicates acceptance. Purchases are governed by the terms in force at the time of purchase.
15. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil. Disputes are subject to the courts of Brazil, save that a consumer resident elsewhere retains any right to bring proceedings in, and to the protection of the mandatory law of, their country of residence.
16. Severability
If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in force.
